Chinese EMS facility gains medical approval
ISO13485 approval adds considerable value to the Stadium Asia offering in the high reliability and high technology medical sector.
This has been achieved at a time when UK manufacturing as a whole has struggled in the face of competition from low-cost economies.
The awards have been running since 1989 and were set up to recognise directors who demonstrate a drive to succeed and an ability to overcome obstacles.
Winners are identified via a research programme measuring business performance, prosperity and track record.
Woods is one of just five directors to receive this year's award.
Woods was commended for having found a highly profitable niche for his UK-based CEM business and offering services above and beyond simple manufacturing.
The judges recognised Woods' efforts in setting ACW apart from its competitors by reinvesting profits to grow the company's financial and operational strength.
Woods was also commended for his investment in an ACW-owned and controlled factory in China, where others only try to form associations with offshore companies in which they have no control.
By running the Chinese site through its UK- based customer interface, Woods' strategy is to help customers to reduce the risks associated with offshore manufacturing.
On receiving the award Woods commented: "In recent years manufacturing in the UK has been in steady decline, giving way to competition from abroad".
"For me to receive this award is testament to the high quality of service which ACW prides itself on and the fact that there is still big demand for a manufacturing company which gives its customers the benefits of highly flexible British manufacturing and low-cost overseas sourcing made easy".
"ACW's financial prudence and pedigree means that we will be able to offer our customers a quality service for years to come".
