A new line of Europlacer Vitesse pick-and-place machines at its manufacturing facility in Southampton will allow ACW Technology to achieve ultrafast manufacturing lead times.

ACW Technology has made a sizeable investment in a new line of Europlacer Vitesse pick-and-place machines at its manufacturing facility in Southampton.

The machines' ease of setup, rapid changeover and speed of placement will further strengthen ACW's customer service, helping it to achieve ultrafast manufacturing lead times.

Owen Reeves, Managing Director at ACW Technology comments: "The Vitesse machines are a particularly flexible manufacturing solution which are ideally suited to the high mix, medium volume business ACW specialises in".

"They've helped significantly reduce set up times between runs, meaning we can make lots of different product, much faster, without compromising quality".

"We expect our overall investment to rise to a total of GBP 1.5 million over the next three years as we kit out our other manufacturing sites in South Wales and China".

The Vitesse machines use twin placement heads mounted on x-y gantries.

Each head comprises eight nozzles and a full "on-the-fly" vision system for analysis of all components.

Machine setup is extremely quick, and all programs can be produced and verified offline.

The machines deliver the speed and accuracy necessary to handle high volume production and are capable of placing around 25,000 components per hour.
