BAE Systems has been awarded a $2 million contract to provide a CW Doppler radar to the UK Aberporth Test and Evaluation Range, operated by QinetiQ on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

BAE Systems has been awarded a $2 million contract to provide a continuous wave (CW) Doppler radar to the UK Aberporth Test and Evaluation Range, operated by QinetiQ on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

The contract is the first order for a new CW Doppler radar product line and will be delivered next year.

BAE Systems has developed the CW Doppler product over the last two years and is currently supporting US Department of Defense range testing with a preproduction unit.

The system incorporates state-of-the-art technology and a system architecture that makes use of commercial components that provides improvements in operation, simplifies logistics support, and minimises life cycle costs.

Work will be performed by BAE Systems employees in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

"The CW Doppler radar provides significant advantages in both technical performance and cost over other available systems in the market", said Larry Wise, President, BAE Systems Technology Solutions and Services.

"We look forward to expanding this new product line and to continue providing our test range customers the instrumentation they require".

The company's CW Doppler product line is available in a variety of power levels and performance options.
