Brainboxes is to present at a seminar, hosted by The Manufacturing Institute's Manufacturing Advisory Service in association with Business Link.

Brainboxes, the Liverpool-based PC data communications hardware design and manufacturing company, is to present at a seminar, hosted by The Manufacturing Institute's Manufacturing Advisory Service in association with Business Link Brainboxes will demonstrate how the company has made smart use of lean manufacturing techniques to make rapid and dramatic performance improvements

The seminar entitled "Boosting productivity" will take place at Partnership for Learning in Speke, Liverpool, on the 15th April, and forms part of the Manufacturers' Factory Network Series presented by The Manufacturing Institute.

The Series is designed to demonstrate to UK companies how they can learn from other manufacturers to boost their productivity and increase bottom-line performance.

The event is free to companies employing less than 50 people with subsidised rates available to larger companies.

Dr Julie Madigan, Chief Executive of The Manufacturing Institute, commented, "Brainboxes is a stunning example of how you can rapidly boost the bottom-line performance of your business in a matter of weeks.

This event is a practical opportunity for manufacturers to learn from real people who've been there and done it".

Managing Director of Brainboxes, Eamonn Walsh, and Production Manager, Gary Vallance will explain how they have: increased throughput by 25%; reduced changeovers by 60%; increased overall equipment effectiveness from 9 to 45%, eliminated root cause quality issues, reduced stock taking from 12 to 5 days and reorganised the shop floor to create a smooth, continuous flow.

Walsh commented, "With the help of The DTI's Manufacturing Advisory Service, we have managed to achieve remarkable improvements in our factory.

We are very proud of our achievements and look forward to sharing the experience with other local firms at these events".

Brainboxes will be joined by Steve Baker from the DTI's Manufacturing Advisory Service at The Manufacturing Institute, who has guided Brainboxes through its recent changes.
