Retro computer comes up to date on FPGA
The One Chip MSX is a brand new MSX computer based on a single Altera FPGA, adding modern features such as memory card storage and VGA display.
Bazix has revealed the design and specifications of the One Chip MSX, a brand new MSX computer based on a single Altera FPGA chip, adding modern features such as memory card storage and VGA display to the popular retro computer This weekend, the new device will be demonstrated during the Tokyo Gameshow by its producer D4 Enterprise (D4E), a Japanese company that is also responsible for the adaptation of MSX for the Nintendo Wii
D4E also rereleases classic retro games from developers such as Konami, CapCom, Falcom, Sega and Square-Enix for Windows, Mobiles, Nintendo Wii and - in the future - the One Chip MSX.
The One Chip MSX will not only be a gaming platform, but will also enable end-users to alter its funcionality by reprogramming the FPGA chip with their own hardware designs.
Bazix is to distribute the One Chip MSX in small batches, starting late 2006, early 2007.
