Online service promises faster access to samples
Distribution's role in component sampling is expected to grow thanks to a new online sampling application, says Beganto CEO Sunil Grover.
Mouser also provides and reports on customer support, adding another dimension to Beganto's unique system for helping component manufacturers manage leads and provide appropriate sales force compensation for design wins.
The new 3PL feature is an optional supplement to Beganto's web-based Design Winner programme.
It provides participating component manufacturers expert outsourced sample fulfillment, reduces the overall level of inventory held in house, eliminates the need to break containers, and cuts the overhead expenses connected to sample fulfillment.

Mouser ships the product in factory branded packaging and uses factory branded documents.
Since Mouser's role is concealed, Mouser's involvement in sampling does not preclude customers using their preferred distributors when placing production orders.
The Beganto-Mouser arrangement parallels current practices by many major component manufacturers who rely on catalogue distributors for broken reels and broken pack order fulfillment, allowing the factory warehouses to concentrate on volume shipments.
Mouser's ability to provide transparent logistics services adds a new dimension to the sample fulfillment process.
According to Mouser Electronics President and CEO, Glenn Smith: "Mouser is uniquely suited for providing sample logistics for component suppliers because of our focus on delivering the newest leading-edge products off-the-shelf, coupled with our ability to ship anywhere with no minimum quantity or minimum order".
The overall Beganto Design Winner programme captures opportunities at the point of sample request and/or initial order, automatically routes the lead to the area sales representative, and tracks the lead for the rep and manufacturer as the opportunity changes over time.
Basic features of Design Winner include the capability for all participants in the order process - customer, rep, 3PL, distributor, and component manufacturer - to enter updated information, and for all concerned to receive automatic e-mail alerts as the situation changes over time.
The system assures that all leads are tracked to their final disposition.
All information is available on a secure website for status review 24/7 by authorised personnel.
The tracking process begins when the customer requests evaluation samples or places an order through either Beganto's website or through the participating vendor's website.
The service is free to engineers.
They no longer need to worry about sending the sample request to the right person or be concerned about when they will receive the sample and follow up - all steps are handled automatically through Beganto's NeedaSample software.
According to CEO Sunil Grover, using the Beganto system and the NeedaSample website is free to engineers, buyers, distributors and reps - all of whom become part of the Beganto Open Network (BeON).
The business model is supported by fees from component manufacturers (approximately two dozen currently) who want to track their design wins, correlate the wins with their global sales, and compensate their field sales forces appropriately.
