Bear Power Supplies has received a contract from Velocite Systems of Glen Burnie, Maryland, to design and produce a custom, 1U high DC/DC power convertor for telecomms test equipment The 370W power supply boasts high efficiency, a 48V input and four different output voltages

The Velocite equipment incorporating the custom power supply has been certified to meet NEBS standards for use in telecomms switching offices.

"They surprised us by also creating a unique mechanical design that will let us remove other hardware costs from our system".

The Bear custom power supply is enclosed, and because of its high efficiency is cooled with a single fan.
It replaces an offshore manufacturer's power supply that is less efficient and requires two large cooling fans.
