BFI Optilas has introduced the Aerocomm AC4486, RF module offering a compact 868MHz transceiver designed for wireless in harsh environments.

Using proven FHSS technology which needs no additional ETSI licensing, OEMs with little or no RF experience can easily and quickly make existing systems wireless.

The AC4486 features drop-in installation and a number of on the fly control commands offering a highly versatile interface.

Applications include direct wire replacements, requiring no special host software for communication.

All frequency hopping, synchronisation and RF system data transmission and reception is performed by the transceiver.

This small form factor, 45mmX50mm, unit offers 3-V and 5-V compatibility with variable output power to 500mW, providing a highly flexible solution for PoS and building control systems.

The modules are socket-compatible with Aerocomm's 900MHz AC4490 modules and 2.4GHz AC4424 models to allow for interchanging the network's frequency.

This allows OEMs to preserve hardware and software investment while providing solutions that meet different markets and regulations.
