The HM110 Series of DC/DC convertor transformers are specifically designed for Power-over-Ethernet applications

The BI Technologies Magnetic Components Division of TT Electronics has developed a family of surface-mount DC/DC convertor transformers specifically designed for Power-over-Ethernet applications.

Designated the HM110 Series, the RoHS-compliant transformers are built in a flyback topology and are available in power ratings from 5 to 15W for the three PoE power ratings.

According to David Smolik, Director of Product Development for BI Technologies Magnetic Components Division: "The transformers are specified at the powered device and work to step down the voltage to the IC level".

"As the demand for powered devices continues to rise, so does the need for these surface mount transformers".

"These devices are ideal for meeting the needs of security cameras, wireless access points and other PoE applications".

The HM110 Series PoE transformers are available in power ratings of 5, 6, 8, and 15W, with inductance values from 180 to 70uH.

DC resistance ranges from 2.5mOhm to 75Ohm.

Isolation is 1500V RMS, with an operating temperature range of -40 to +125C.

BI Technologies will also produce devices outside these specifications to meet customer requirements.

The transformers feature the following measurements: 5W - 15.0 x 22.5 x 8.5mm; 6W - 16.0 x 14.0 x 7.5mm; 8W - 17.5 x 22.5 x 10; 15W - 13.5 x 17.8 x 12.5.

The transformers are available in 13in diameter embossed tape and reel packages.

Typical pricing for the HM110 Series PoE transformer is approximately US $0.65 to $1.05 depending on volume, with lead times from stock to 10 weeks.
