Thin film chip inductors feature tight tolerances and are available in 0402 and 0603 package sizes.

Providing design engineers with a compact inductive device designed to fit space-constrained applications, TT Electronics BI Technologies Magnetic Components Division now offers a series of thin film chip inductors Designated the BTC Series, the inductors feature tight tolerances and are available in 0402 and 0603 package sizes

"These thin film chip inductors are smaller and flatter than wire-wound inductors, and are surface mountable, allowing them to be used in applications with limited board space", said David Smolik, Director of Product Development for TT Electronics BI Technologies Magnetics Division.

"Their small profile and tight tolerances make the BTC Series inductors ideal for communications applications, including cellular telephones, pagers, GPS products and Bluetooth modules".

Additional applications for the thin film chip inductors include RF ICs, WLAN cards, low noise amplifiers, mixers, voltage- and temperature-controlled oscillators, matching networks, and RF transceiver modules.

The BTC Series thin film chip inductors exhibit stable inductance values in high frequency circuits and self-resonant frequencies controlled within 10%.

Absolute tolerance is to +/-1% or +/-0.1nH, with frequencies of 300MHz for the 0603 package, and 500MHz for the 0402 package.

The inductors are compatible with both reflow and flow soldering.

Typical pricing for the BTC Series inductors is approximately US $22.00 to $59.00 per thousand pieces depending on tolerance and sizes, with lead times from stock to 10 weeks.
