The RapiDesignClean rules-driven layout solution is to adopt the industry-standard OpenAccess database, enabling tight links with the new Cadence Virtuoso custom design platform.

The RapiDesignClean rules-driven layout solution from BindKey Technologies will adopt the industry-standard OpenAccess database, enabling tight links with the newly introduced Cadence Virtuoso custom design platform With the increasing number and complexity of design rules, rules-driven layout has become a necessity for nanometre layout editing and custom design

RapiDesignClean greatly eases the burden on layout engineers.

BindKey has further simplified the design process for its customers by supporting open interoperability through OpenAccess, ensuring easy integration of RapiDesignClean into their Cadence nanometre design flow.

"Support for OpenAccess is an integral part of our commitment to making RapiDesignClean's unique, must-have advantages available to as many layout engineers as possible", said Tom Daspit, Director of Marketing for BindKey.

"In addition to supporting OpenAccess, we are also a member of the Cadence Connections Program.

Our participation on both fronts further contributes to open interoperability and ensures ease of tool integration for our mutual customers".

"BindKey's decision to support the OpenAccess database is another example of the momentum behind OpenAccess and the true, open industry approach it represents", said Michael Sanie, Group Director, Strategic Third-Party Partnerships and Initiatives at Cadence.

"Customers are benefiting from the ability to have interoperability across multiple suppliers, which can only be obtained through open initiatives like OpenAccess".

As chip feature sizes shrink from 130 to 90nm and below, layout engineers face the impossible task of memorising 1000 design rules or more.

RapiDesignClean is the first tool of its kind to provide full support for the 90nm and below technologies in real time.

Unlike tools that only check for rule violations after the layout is finished, RapiDesignClean shows layout engineers where to place structures without creating violations - in real time, during the layout process.

RapiDesignClean with support for OpenAccess and the Cadence Virtuoso custom design platform will be available during the fourth quarter of 2003 with pricing starting at $15,000.
