The latest version of the Birdstep RDM Embedded database management solution incorporates an XML interface.

Birdstep RDM Embedded, with XML, provides a high performance embeddable database platform using an industry standard format that simplifies system interoperability and integration.

Birdstep is deploying XML across its complete database management solution family, and the release of RDM Embedded 7.1 is the second product announcement with XML - in April 2004 RDM Mobile 3.0 was released with XML.

By adding an XML interface to the RDM Embedded product, Birdstep provides a straightforward means to export and import data, without complex transformations, between any XML-aware systems.

"Our customers are integrating into systems that have multiple databases as well as extending enterprise data to mobile work forces".

"These trends require data exchange to occur between different applications and databases with as little overhead as possible".

"Our XML interface meets these objectives without compromising our data management engine's performance or functionality".

"This approach not only simplifies data exchange but also ensures that existing RDM Embedded or RDM Server customers can easily upgrade to enjoy the benefits of XML", said Tom Clark, Birdstep Technology CEO.

RDM Embedded is a small-footprint, ultra-high-performance data-management solution.

Along with the addition of XML API, RDM Embedded features native API, SQL API and Java API.

RDM Embedded runs on a variety of operating systems with a broad range of features including data mirroring, network and relational data modelling, automatic database recovery, multi-user support, and multiple database access.

A free software development kit can be downloaded from the Birdstep Technology website to allow developers to immediately begin working with one of Birdstep's finest RDM database management solutions.
