General Dynamics UK has selected Birdstep's RDM Embedded database management system as a database agent for network enabled airborne applications.

General Dynamics UK has selected Birdstep's RDM Embedded database management system as a database agent for network enabled airborne applications.

RDM Embedded will provide database management for Innovative Concepts' Improved Data Modem (IDM Technology).

IDM Technology supports the exchange of tactical data between airborne applications and ground forces to support enhanced mission execution capability.

General Dynamics UK and Innovative Concepts, the IDM design authority, have been actively working together over the last four years supporting the introduction, test, evaluation and deployment of IDM digital data communications technology to the UK Armed Forces.

Birdstep's RDM Embedded data management solution was selected for the critical IDM component due to the product's maturity and stability, verifiable speed and high-performance, and compatibility with the Green Hills Integrity platform, along with flexibility across a number of platforms.

"Birdstep has a significant customer base, which is impressive and gives us confidence in the product", said Chris Hunt, General Dynamics UK Engineering IT Manager.

"RDM Embedded is chosen for airborne applications because it provides the performance, reliability, and functionality required by avionic systems manufacturers".

"With over 20 years data management software development, Birdstep's products have the stability and reliability mandatory in airborne critical applications", commented Tom Clark, Birdstep Technology CEO.
