Compact bench power supply provides 175W
The EX355, new from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments), is a single-output laboratory DC power supply providing an output from 0 to 35V at 0 to 5A.
Programmable power-supplies offer outputs to 1kW
The XHR range of programmable power supplies, offering output ratings up to 1 kW is power-factor corrected for low current draw and reduced generation of input current harmonics.
In dual-output mode, each output provides 0-75V at 0-2A.
As a single unit, the PSU provides an output that can be selected as either 0-75V at 0-4A or 0-150V at 0-2A.
In single mode, the unused half of the unit becomes completely inoperative, and its displays are blanked.
Because of the higher voltages it can produce, the EX752M uses special safety binding posts which can accept spade terminals, 4mm plugs, or bare-end wires without exposing any metal parts.
To achieve a product compact and light enough to be suitable as a general-purpose laboratory PSU, the EX752M uses mixed-mode regulation technology which combines switch-mode preregulation with linear postregulation.
Special techniques are used to combine very high efficiency with output noise levels that are close to those of a pure linear regulator.
This performance is achieved in a casing measuring only 260 ? 160 ? 320mm and weighing only 4.4 kg.
Operation can be constant voltage or constant current with automatic crossover.
Individual DC output switches are fitted.
When the output switch is set to off, the current limit setting is displayed, enabling conditions to be set before the load is connected.
Line and load regulation are both better than 0.01%, and output noise is less than 2mV, even at full power.
High power efficiency ensures that the unit remains cool without the need for a fan.
High-resolution controls allow accurate setting of voltage and current levels.
The EX752M incorporates separate digital voltage and current meters on each output.
The meters use bright 14mm LED displays, and have an update rate of 4Hz, providing near instantaneous response.
The unit has been designed to meet the stringent requirements of relevant IEC standards for safety and EMC, and incorporates full power-factor correction in order to comply with impending harmonics legislation.
The output is intrinsically short-circuit proof, and is protected against external voltages and reverse currents.
Low heat output ensures that no part of the PSU suffers excessive temperature rise.
The EX752M costs GBP449 (plus VAT) in the UK.
