Switchers aid multichannel audio analysis

The SWR-2122 range of audio switchers, exclusively in the UK from TTi, are high-performance audio routing switchers for use with the Audio Precision System One and System Two audio analysers.

The SWR-2122 range of audio switchers, now available exclusively in the UK from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments), is a series of high-performance audio routing switchers for use with the Audio Precision System One and System Two audio analysers in situations where more than two channels need to be measured.

The switchers are available in 2 x 12 formats with various connectors to suit specific applications.

Up to 16 switchers may be cascaded to handle up to 192 inputs and outputs.

All connections to multitrack recorders, routing switchers, distribution amplifiers, mixing consoles or multiple units may be made at one time and the complete device characterised without operator intervention.

In production board-test applications, the switchers may be used to access multiple points in the circuit under test.

The series is available in four versions: the SWR-2122M has 12 male XLR and two female XLR front-panel connectors to switch generator outputs; the SWR-2122F has 12 female XLR and two male XLR panel connectors to switch analyser inputs; the SWR-2122P is a patch-point (insertion) switcher with twelve 5-pin male XLR panel connectors; and the SWR-2122U is an unbalanced 12 x 2 switcher with floating BNC connectors.

All four of the switchers use the same circuit board.

They differ from one another in connector configuration and in features set by internal jumpers which define them as an input switcher, output switcher or a patch-point switcher.

Each of the switchers is a 12 x 2 relay matrix.

Either common point can be connected to any of the 12 selectable points.

All the switchers are of balanced design, but may be used with unbalanced circuits.

Input switchers expand input channels above the two available in the dual-channel System One or Two.

Output switchers expand output channels and also permit measurement of worst-case crosstalk by driving all but one channel.

The patch-point switcher is both an input and output switcher.

The front panel has twelve 5-pin XLR connectors plus one connector each for the System One or Two generator output and analyser input.

It is designed for insertion between the output of one stage or device and the input of the following stage or device.

Each switcher measures 432 x 45 x 260mm and mounts in a standard rack unit with the supplied brackets.
