The Gage CompuScope 14100, now available in the UK from TTi, is a PCIbus card capable of performing 14bit analogue/digital conversion at up to 50Msample/s in dual-channel simultaneous mode.

The Gage CompuScope 14100, now available in the UK from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments), is a state-of the-art, single slot, PCIbus card capable of performing 14bit analogue/digital conversion at sampling rates of up to 100Msample/s in single-channel mode and 50Msample/s in dual-channel simultaneous mode.

The new unit features an impressive 50MHz analogue bandwidth with over 70dB dynamic range and 63dB signal/noise ratio.

This combination of dynamic range and sampling speed makes the 14100 a world market leader.

One billion samples of onboard memory allows very long data recording sessions for applications including DSL testing, wireless signals and antenna research.

This memory is much greater than that of a traditional DSO, where the deepest memories tend to be 64 million samples.

The CompuScope 14100 takes full advantage of the fast data throughput offered by the PCI bus.

Using bus mastering, data can be transferred from the on-board memory to the PC's memory at rates of up to 100Mbyte/s.

This is typically 100 times faster than is possible using the ISA or VXIbus and more than 1000 times faster than GPIB rates.

This fast data throughput allows use in applications such as radar, ultrasonic or imaging applications that require trigger frequencies in excess of 10kHz.

Combined with the powerful GageScope for Windows software, the CompuScope 14100 enables users to operate the card as an oscilloscope without writing any programming code.

It allows users to view, manipulate, store, analyse and print data and to convert it to an ASCII format for use in spreadsheets and mathematical software packages.

With the software, the CompuScope 14100 can act as a digital oscilloscope, a wide dynamic range FFT analyser, a transient recorder with time and date-stamp capabilities or a waveform analyser.

The SuperRes feature of GageScope for Windows also allows the effective resolution of the CompuScope 14100 to be extended well beyond 24bit at slower sample rates.

Software development kits are available for C/C++, MATLAB and LabVIEW, with support for Windows 95/98, Windows NT and Windows 2000.

A Linux driver and sample program are also available.

The CompuScope 14100 is priced from GBP 5996 (plus VAT).
