Audio tester gains GPIB capabilities
The ATS2G audio test system from Audio Precision adds GPIB capability to the previously available ATS2A analyser.
The ATS2G audio test system from Audio Precision, now available in the UK from exclusive distributor TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments), adds GPIB capability to the previously available ATS2A analyser.
The ATS2G sets a new standard in value for computer-controlled audio testing systems with a broad set of capabilities and high measurement performance from the acknowledged market leader.
These capabilities are combined in a lightweight, compact and affordable instrument suited to the design laboratory, broadcast facility or production line.
Two independent signal generators, one for analogue output and one for digital output, create a large number of test signals.
These include sine waves (mono, stereo, phase-shifted, tone bursts and dual), noise and square waves.
Also included are special waveforms including polarity, a pass-through function and digital waveforms plus arbitrary waveforms including predefined or user-defined multitone signals.
The ATS2G offers balanced and unbalanced connections for both analogue and digital signal domains.
For digital signals, the balanced connections satisfy the electrical and mechanical aspects of AES3 and IEC60958-4, also offering dual-connector mode.
The unbalanced connections satisfy AES3id, and are also suitable for S/PDIF signals.
Optical connectors are also provided.
Signals in either the analogue or digital domain can be characterised for audio performance, providing a comprehensive set of measurement functions.
These include amplitude, noise (weighted, band-limited or narrowband), two-channel amplitude ratio, crosstalk (channel separation), THD+N (ratio and absolute amplitude), SMPTE/DIN intermodulation distortion and phase.
A broad range of analysis functions offers a comprehensive suite of measurement capabilities.
The audio analyser is a two-channel instrument measuring level, frequency, noise, THD+N, crosstalk, phase and frequency selective level.
The measurement functions offer combinations of detector selections and filtering including band-limiting, bandpass, weighting and notch.
The spectrum analyser is a general-purpose FFT instrument generating frequency domain (spectrum) displays with selectable acquisition times, windowing and averaging functions.
The display can be toggled between spectrum and oscilloscope views.
A multitone analyser uses specially designed multitone stimulus signals with specialised FFT analysis to rapidly capture a complete suite of audio performance parameters in less than a second.
An optional performance option includes a digital interface analyser to examine the digital interface signal in detail.
It provides information about signal jitter including jitter amplitude, jitter waveform and spectrum.
The eye-pattern display is a concise, easy-to-interpret measure of digital interface performance.
A detailed look at individual harmonic distortion products is provided by a harmonic analyser.
This is particularly useful with the sweep facility to generate graphs of individual harmonics against frequency.
The product comes complete with a GPIB interface, APIB interface and a 'getting started' manual.
An optional GPIB programmer's reference manual is also available.
The ATS2G costs GBP 8095 (plus VAT).
