Multimeter has true dual measurement
capability
The model 1705 is a high-performance bench digital multimeter incorporating not just dual displays but also 'dual measurement' technology.
The model 1705, new from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments), is a high-performance bench digital multimeter (DMM) incorporating not just dual displays but also 'dual measurement' technology Unlike DMMs which use dual displays simply to show two parameters of one signal, the 1705 uses a patented technique to enable two signals - a DC voltage and an AC current, for example - to be measured and displayed simultaneously

DMM is order of magnitude better than handhelds
TTi has redesigned the model 1705 multimeter to use the company's new 2U high bench-top case for which an optional rack-mount kit is available.
Compact bench power supply provides 175W
The EX355, new from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments), is a single-output laboratory DC power supply providing an output from 0 to 35V at 0 to 5A.
The dual displays can be used to show the selected range in addition to the measurement units (eg 750V AC); to display a measurement in two different units (eg AC volts and decibels); to display the result of a calculated function (eg resistance value and percentage deviation); to measure and display two parameters of one signal (eg AC volts and DC volts); or to measure and display two different signals (eg AC volts and DC current).
The 1705 is a 4.25-digit meter with a scale length of 12,000 counts and resolutions of 10uV, 10mohm and 0.1uA.
With a high basic DC voltage accuracy of 0.04%, it provides measurements that are an order of magnitude better than most handheld DMMs.

Programmable power-supplies offer outputs to 1kW
The XHR range of programmable power supplies, offering output ratings up to 1 kW is power-factor corrected for low current draw and reduced generation of input current harmonics.
Low-pass filter meets digital testing requirements
The new Audio Precision S2-AES17LP filter, now available exclusively in the UK from TTi, meets the requirements for digital audio testing laid down by the Audio Engineering Society.
The meter is housed in a substantial bench-style case with an adjustable tilt stand.
It can be operated either from AC mains or from batteries.
The high-contrast LCD has unusually large digits (17mm high) and a full set of annunciators.
It offers fully automatic ranging on all functions.
Alternatively, ranges can be selected manually.
The range value can be clearly shown on the secondary display, avoiding any possibility of confusion.
The 1705 provides true RMS AC response, which gives accurate measurements regardless of the waveform shape.
The high-bandwidth attenuator provides high accuracy within the audio band, and gives extended response to avoid errors when measuring switching waveforms.
Measurements are normally AC coupled but, when required, the true RMS value of the AC plus DC components can be shown at the touch of a button.
A wide range of 'smart' functions are incorporated, including decibels, Ax + b, limits comparison, percentage deviation, min/max storage and power measurement.
A 100-step data logger is also included which can store readings either at timed intervals (from one per second to one every three hours), or in response to a front-panel key or external contact closure.
The 1705 is fully programmable via its built-in RS232 interface.
This can be used to control all the meter functions and to read back results from the display or from the data logger.
An optional GPIB interface is also available.
The DMM stores its calibration constants in permanent memory (EEPROM).
Consequently, it can be recalibrated without ever opening the case.
It incorporates extensive protection against damage from accidental overloads on all ranges, including 10A.
It also meets the stringent safety requirements of IEC1010-1 for measurements up to 1 kV (class 1) or 600V (class 11).
The 1705 is designed and manufactured in the UK, and costs GBP 299 (plus VAT).
