An extended range of the Tektronix TLA600 Series of logic analysers with up to 136 channels is now available from Thurlby Thandar Instruments.

An extended range of the Tektronix TLA600 Series of logic analysers with up to 136 channels is now available from Thurlby Thandar Instruments.

These analysers operate on an Open Windows platform which is an environment essentially identical to that of the ordinary personal computer.

The range has been specifically designed for engineers who need to quickly identify hardware and software problems that can delay the product development cycle.

The need for this product has been driven by the requirement to develop domestic products containing embedded microprocessors such as mobile telephones, set-top boxes, video gaming consoles and smart appliances, together with the increasing reliance upon microprocessor technology in the automobile industry.

The TLA600 series provides unprecedented measurement performance using a breakthrough acquisition technology called MagniVu.

With this technology, all incoming data are always oversampled at 2GHz.

The oversampled data are then processed in real time to perform timing acquisition, state acquisition and triggering without missing crucial timing information on any channel.

By storing timing information in this high-speed acquisition memory at the full 2GHz rate, all TLA600 logic analysers offer 500ps timing resolution on all channels, all the time.

The series offers standard configurations with state acquisitions up to 100MHz for common applications and optional 200MHz configurations for leading-edge applications.

As all clocks and data are oversampled at a 2GHz rate and processed in real time to provide 200MHz synchronous acquisitions, each data sample is time-stamped with 500ps resolution.

Even high-speed double-pumped circuits can be easily supported with datarates up to 400MHz in half-channel mode.

General-purpose timing and state acquisition are provided simultaneously, giving 500ps timing and up to 200MHz state acquisition at the same time, through the same probe.

Users no longer have to connect a second set of timing probes to a circuit from which they are already acquiring state data.

For situations requiring combined analogue and digital measurement, the Tektronix iView system combines analogue sampling in the gigahertz range with logic analyser triggering.

The iView system integrates the operation of the Tektronix TLA family of logic analysers with various models of the Tektronix TDS range of digitising oscilloscopes.

The analogue and digital data are time-correlated on one integrated display.

The setup and run functions of both instruments are implemented from the logic analyser display.

The TLA600 series is available either with a built-in high-resolution colour TFT screen or in screenless versions.

The latter use an external PC monitor and are attractive to users who work remotely over a network, have limited space or need additional cost savings.

Prices start at just over GBP 5000.
