Broadcom's BCM2132 Edge/GPRS/GSM baseband processor offers a high level of system integration, performance and features for next generation wireless multimedia handsets and data modules.
The BCM2132 integrates all analogue and digital Edge/GPRS/GSM baseband processing functions on a single CMOS chip, as well as onboard interface functions and drivers to enable auxiliary components such as microphone, speaker and SIM to connect directly to the chip.
Broadcom also offers comprehensive Edge/GPRS/GSM system design based on the BCM2132 to minimise time to market for handset developers.
Broadcom mobile technology has been adopted by several other top Chinese handset manufacturers, as well as by Bird.
Offering a range of advanced cellular baseband products that support multiple cellular technologies (including Edge and WCDMA), Broadcom features a broad portfolio of converged communications products to enable next generation devices that integrate Bluetooth and Wi-Fi functionalities, personal multimedia players, and digital video, still image capture and mobile TV capabilities.
The BCM2132 GPRS multimedia processor is shipping in production quantities.
The D220 handset is available today in the China market and will be shown at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, until 16th February 2006.
