BTU Europe will exhibit a range of equipment at Productronica this year, including the latest version of the solder reflow oven for SMT processing, the Pyramax 125.
The AtmoPlas process will enable a new method of heating components where microwave energy is used to create a plasma at atmospheric pressure.
Plasma is usually generated under low pressure or vacuum, adding substantial complexity and cost to the equipment.
However, AtmoPlas operates without a vacuum which will present several significant advantages compared with conventional microwave processing.
Paul van der Wansem, Chairman and CEO of BTU International comments: "We envision that after further development this technology will provide thermal processing solutions which could significantly affect processing flexibility, cycle time, equipment footprint and throughput for electronics, energy generation and other applications".
BTU recently acquired the product lines of Radiant Technologies Corporation, providing infra-red technology for the solar market, and aims to acquire further products and technologies that will meet the future processing needs of BTU customers as part of the company's long-term strategic initiative.
