Rework station passes the test
The high cost of contracting out rework led Lancashire-based Hawk Electronics to invest in a dedicated rework station.
Blundell Production Equipment has recently supplied an Ersa IR550 rework station to Hawk Electronics of Accrington, Lancashire "We had been placing BGAs, QFNs and DFNs for some time, but when it came to rework, we were struggling", explains Alicja Kay, Managing Director of Hawk

"The high cost of contracting out rework, and the resulting lack of control over it, spurred us on to investigate the rework equipment market".
"Talking to various contacts in the industry I soon realised that the Ersa range of rework stations, supplied by Blundell Production Equipment are the most widely used by the electronic assembly companies I contacted, and that's always a good start" she adds.
After an in house demonstration arranged by Blundell, Hawk Electronics went on to buy an IR550.
And, six months on, Kay is absolutely convinced that she made the right choice.
"The solid design, clever technology and attention to detail are obvious from the moment you start using it", she says.
As well as having more control over the quality and speed of rework, Hawk is now able to offer a separate rework-only service to other manufacturers, which is bringing in new business for the company.
