BVM has developed a new generation of "Plasma Engines" to support the latest LCD, HDTV and PDP flat panel displays.

BVM has developed a new generation of "Plasma Engines" to support the latest LCD, HDTV and PDP flat panel displays The WPE-680 is a slim plasma PC designed to mount on the rear of the display screen or can be rack mounted if desired

The AGP 4X display driver provides high resolution WVGA graphics in either 4:3 or 16:9 mode.

It can also present the display in portrait mode, essential for timetable displays.

Direct digital output is available from the standard DVI connector in addition to analogue VGA connection.

The inbuilt DVD-ROM and MPEG-2 decoding hardware ensure perfect presentation of moving video and the audio channel completes the lineup.

The WPE-680 is designed for public information displays in airports, railway stations and sports grounds or advertising displays in supermarkets, shopping malls and motorway service areas.

Using a Plasma Engine for information display removes the need for expensive cabling requirements and expensive specialist video cards whilst providing all the features required for flat panel displays in a cost effective solution.

Display information can be held locally on the disk or DVD, generated by the processor from serial or network data, or input via the IEEE1394 port from a camera or other DV device.

In addition to the 10/100BaseT Ethernet connection a wireless network card can be added to simplifying installation in difficult locations.

At the heart of the system is a Pentium III Tualatin processor with up to 512Mbyte of SDRAM.

CD/DVD-ROM, HDD, FDD, keyboard, mouse, serial and parallel ports make up the standard PC peripherals.

In addition there are four USB 2.0 ports, an IEEE1394 port and a PCMCIA slot.

The integral power supply operates from 100 to 240V.
