Small size and low power consumption makes it suitable for protocol convertors, machine controllers and other applications where raw computing power is not the primary requirement.

The latest addition to BVM's range of ultrasmall fanless PCs for embedded applications is the EPC-500, a compact 115 x 115 x 35mm unit with VESA mounting capabilities Powered by an external single 5V/3A supply, the unit is completely silent in operation as forced air cooling is not required

Based on a VIA Eden ULV 500MHz CPU, the EPS-500 has 500Mbyte of DDR2 RAM onboard; the onboard video supports 2D and 3D graphics up to 1920 x 1440 and has a MPEG4 and WMV9 decoding accelerator, making the unit ideal for use as the engine in graphics-heavy applications such as POS kiosks, display managers and similar uses.

Its small size and low power consumption also makes it suitable for use in protocol convertors, machine controllers and other applications where raw computing power is not the primary requirement.

All popular operating systems, including XP Professional, will run on the device.

Three USB 2.0 ports, a CompactFlash slot and a 10/100Base-T networking port are provided as standard; two RS232 COM ports and a mini PCI socket are optionally available, as are an EIDE interface for an internal 2.5in HDD and Wi-Fi networking capability.
