C and D Technologies (NCL) claims its NKE series are the world's lowest profile 1W isolated DC/DC convertors.

C and D Technologies (NCL) claims its NKE series are the world's lowest profile 1W isolated DC/DC convertors.

The single-output devices supplied in an ultraminiature DIP that combines an industry-standard pinout with a height of just 5.4mm and a board-mounted footprint of 9.8 x 11.5mm.

Devices for 3, 5 and 12V inputs are available, while output options are 3.3, 5, 9, 12 and 15V.

In all cases isolation between input and output is rated at 3kV DC.

Offering a power density of 1.64W/cm3, the low-profile NKE series simplify PCB layout by delivering their full 1W performance at temperatures of between -40 and +85C without requiring a heatsink or other external cooling.

An internal SMD construction that uses multilayer ceramic capacitors rather than electrolytic or tantalum alternatives contributes to an MTTF of up to 2.4 million hours.

The convertors are supplied in fully encapsulated, UL 94V-0-compliant packaging and employ a toroidal magnetic construction that minimises external fields and ensures suitability for applications with high component densities.

Typical line regulation for each device is 1%, while typical ripple and noise ratings are as low as 40mV (peak-to-peak).

NKE DC/DC convertors have unit pricing of $5.31 for OEM quantities.

As well as the standard NKE devices, C and D Technologies (NCL) can design and manufacture custom parts based on the NKE technology.
