Convertors satisfy current-hungry applications
Isolated wide-input-range DC/DC convertors deliver 50-60W of power from a standard 40.6 x 50.8 x 10.16mm PCB-mounting open-frame package.
Eighth-brick convertors power up to 100W
Murata Power Solutions has a new series of cost-effective eighth-brick DC/DC convertors.
The first two products within the SLC100 series are 1.2 and 1.5V output devices.
Each device can accommodate a wide input-voltage range between 36 and 75V DC, and is capable of operating at temperatures up to 85C without a heatsink.
No minimum load is required and the devices feature an isolation voltage rating of 2kV DC.

Adjustable power at the point of load
New modules are ideal for supplying POL power to devices such as ASICs, FPGAs and DSPs in a wide range of multiprocessor digital systems.
Output trimming and remote output sense functions are provided, while a remote on/off capability allows the devices to be turned on and off using either negative or positive logic signals.
Thermal shutdown and protection against output overvoltage and overcurrent conditions are also standard features.
The SLC100 convertors offer high levels of onboard functionality, operate with a fixed switching frequency of 400kHz, and are designed to meet CISPR22/EN55022/FCC15J Class B specifications for EMI levels with external filtering.
Efficiency levels are as high as 91%, and typical ripple and noise on the output is specified as 75mV.
The operating temperatures for the new convertors range from -25 to +85C, and the MTTF for all of the devices in the range is 1Mh.
The SLC100 is available in both through-hole and surface mount versions based on C and D's Position Perfect pin technology.
Position Perfect is an interconnect technology that enhances mechanical mounting integrity, assures coplanarity, and improves mounting accuracy by eliminating the possibility of movement during assembly.
Convertors with Position Perfect interconnects are designed for use with high-volume, low cost automated manufacturing processes.
Automated handling of SMT convertors allows for increased throughput, reduced lead times and cost savings.
Supplied in an industry standard quarter brick footprint, the SLC100 offers coplanarity of less than 1mm.
Products are shipped in vacuum-formed antistatic trays for ease of use with automated pick and place manufacturing equipment.
C and D Technologies will be launching additions to the SLC100 series throughout the first half of 2004.
Pricing for the SLC100 DC/DC convertor is less than $60 in OEM quantities. Request a free brochure from Murata Power Solutions ...
