The PF600-1 600W AC/DC convertor from C and D Technologies delivers the industry's highest power density for a product of its type.

The PF600-1 600W AC/DC convertor from C and D Technologies delivers the industry's highest power density for a product of this type.

The highly integrated PF600-1 requires very few additional components to implement a full front-end solution for 48V distributed power architectures (DPAs).

As a result, it can help to save space and significantly simplify circuit design in 48V DPA applications such as telecommunications and networking systems, test and measurement hardware, computers, and industrial equipment.

Operating across a wide input voltage range of 85-264V AC, the PF600-1 is suitable for deployment in applications required to operate on a global basis.

The unit can deliver its full-rated 600W of power with input voltages down to 90V AC, and incorporates active power factor correction to EN61000-3-2.

Onboard features that minimise the need for external circuitry include a standby output that can be used to power auxiliary circuits that need to remain active when the PF600-1 output is inhibited.

Protection against overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature conditions is provided, and a ?DC output OK? signal can be used to maintain downstream convertors in an inhibited state until the output voltage is in regulation.

The PF600-1 has dimensions of 64.8 x 127.0 x 14.2mm.

The convertor operates at a fixed switching frequency of 300kHz and the baseplate-cooled package operates over a temperature range of -10 to +100C.

PF600-1 units can be combined in series and parallel arrays to meet the requirements of higher power applications.

Operating with efficiency levels up to 89%, the PF600-1 delivers a power density in excess of 5.5W/cm3.

C and D Technologies has been able to achieve the convertor's combination of power density and high levels of integration by using advanced materials and processes including insulated metal substrate (IMS) technologies, silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors, planar transformers and low-loss circuit topologies.

Available now, the PF600-1 is priced at less than $0.50/W in 250 piece quantities.
