An isolated DC/DC convertor saves cost and space in intermediate bus architecture applications in computer and telecommunications equipment.
C and D Technologies has introduced an isolated DC/DC convertor that provides a cost and space saving solution for intermediate bus architecture applications in computer and telecommunications equipment The QUS40-096 has an unregulated output, and a fixed conversion ratio of 5:1 that is maintained between the input and output voltages

Novel interface is perfect for convertor mounting
Position Perfect is a novel surface mount interface technology claimed to provide enhanced mechanical integrity and improved mounting accuracy for DC/DC convertors.
Surface mount inductors have inbuilt shielding
Offering a wide range of inductance values and featuring integral EMI shielding, the latest inductors from C and D Technologies (NCL) will suit power designs that have limited PCB space.
The module is housed in a compact, industry standard, quarter-brick footprint package.
Operating from a typical input voltage of 48V DC, the QUS40-096 has an output voltage set-point of 9.6V DC.
It is able to deliver a maximum output power of 300W at 38V DC input, +55C and 1m/s linear airflow, and has a typical efficiency of 96.6%.
By incorporating isolation (up to 2250V DC), the new bus convertor allows designers to achieve overall cost and real estate savings by allowing them to use nonisolated point-of-load (POL) devices rather than larger, more expensive isolated versions.
The QUS40-096 features a primary side remote enable capability (positive or negative triggered), plus overcurrent and overtemperature protection, both with automatic restart.
The versatile module is also suitable for parallel operation allowing it to satisfy the requirements of higher power applications.
Overall dimensions of the QUS40-096 are 58.4 x 36.8 x 12.2mm.
The module has UL94V0 flammability rating and a demonstrated MTBF of 2 million hours.
Operating temperature range is -40 to +85C. Request a free brochure from Murata Power Solutions ...
