Curing light system wins US patent
A patent for a curing light system for curing light-activated composite materials has been issued to Dr Densen Cao, President of Cao Group.
A patent for a curing light system for curing light-activated composite materials has been issued to Dr Densen Cao, President of Cao Group.
US Patent 7,077,648 covers various configurations of light emitting semiconductor chips and heatsinks, as well as various structures and methods for driving, controlling and using them.
With the award of this patent, Cao Group owns more than 26 patents related to the use of LEDs, plus more than a dozen others issued, and some 50 applications pending.
The new patent applies to a handheld wand for manipulating a curing light, with controls on the wand for controlling transmission of light from the curing light.
The wand contains two heatsinks, and a light emitting semiconductor device.
Light emitted directly forward from the light emitting semiconductor device travels at an angular orientation in the range of 30 to 150 degrees, and exits the curing light without passing through a light guide.
