Test connectors can be custom-built online
A new design tool enables test engineers to custom-build their own virtual mixed-signal connectors online.
The creation of the Vishay Approved Precision Centre within Charcroft will enable UK customers to accelerate their design cycle by drastically reducing the standard 8-week lead time on precision resistors for prototyping and preproduction.
Charcroft's express manufacturing service will support a lead time of just 7 days for 0.01%+ moulded radial resistors and 15 days for 0.005% moulded radials and 0.01% Z Foil 1206-case surface mount resistors.
The Charcroft parts will be identical to the Vishay S, VSM, SMR and 300144 series in every respect, including the part number, except for the manufacturer's name.

Pulse's ChipChoke series for USB2.0 standard applications are said to eliminate common mode noise in high-speed networks.
Charcroft's Sales Director, Edmund Coady, commented: "By integrating the manufacture of precision resistors within our engineering support programme, Charcroft can actively help customers to cut weeks from their design cycle for precision products.
Customers will also benefit from the additional flexibility for Charcroft to supply either the Charcroft or Vishay parts for full-volume production".
Vishay Precision's European Manager, Rod Myall, added: "The products manufactured by Charcroft and the three other Approved Precision Centres worldwide are monitored by Vishay Precision's Quality Control organisation.
They supplement our own production by manufacturing prototype and emergency deliveries of precision resistors on lead times that we could not support directly from our factory.
Customers for precision resistors include defence and aerospace, medical, instrumentation, audio and other high-end applications which demand a very high level of expertise and engineering support.
Over the years Vishay Precision has developed a very close relationship with Charcroft as a distributor of Vishay foil and thin-film high-precision resistors and we are confident that this new collaboration will be of significant benefit and value to customers within these markets".
A specialist passive distributor for 29 years, Charcroft added a manufacturing facility at its headquarters in Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales, when it acquired the multilayer ceramic capacitor manufacturer, Ashcroft Ceramic Capacitors, in March 2003.
In addition to the new Bulk Metal Foil precision resistors Charcroft provides an express manufacturing service on commercial and BS/CECC radial multilayer ceramic capacitors with tolerances down to 1%.
