Charcroft Electronics will continue as the UK's exclusive franchised distributor for Klixon following the $3 billion sale of Texas Instruments' Klixon Sensors and Controls division.

Charcroft Electronics will continue as the UK's exclusive franchised distributor for Klixon following the $3 billion sale of Texas Instruments' Klixon Sensors and Controls division, in which the division's name was changed to Sensata Technologies.

Widely recognised as the world's leading brand of sensors and controls, the Klixon range is used in a wide range of applications, particularly in the military and aerospace markets.

Sensata Technologies is owned by Bain Capital and the deal reverses the merger of Klixon Sensors and Controls and Texas Instruments in 1959.

Since then the company, which has undergone a number of name changes, has maintained an industry-leading position with Klixon technology.

According to Charcroft's Electromechanical Specialist, Jeff Gurr: "Sensata will provide greater flexibility for Klixon to invest in new technologies, and for Charcroft to bring Klixon's precision and commercial thermal management and circuit protection products into new applications in the instrumentation, medical, industrial and transport markets".

The Klixon range includes sensors for pressure, airflow, gas, analysis and automotive applications as well as circuit breakers for arc-fault and battery protection.

The range also includes HVAC/R, lighting and motor controls, pressure switches, temperature stabilisers and commercial and precision thermostats.
