Concurrent releases Gigabit Ethernet switch board
Concurrent Technologies has brought out a Gigabit Ethernet switch board, the FP 210/024, to operate alongside its range of VMEbus-based single board computers.
CompactPCI storage mixes HDDs and CompactFlash
Enables the integration of SATA300 mass storage drives into a 3U CompactPCI system, where performance, functionality, power, space and cost are key elements.
The board has two 32bit PMC sites available for user functions or for the addition of any standard PMC modules.
The PMC I/O connector signals are routed to P2 and/or P0 or through the front panel of the board.
An onboard connector allows for the addition of the optional PMC carrier board - the AD CR2/PMC, which allows the use of a total of four PMC modules within two VME slots.
The board's processing power is provided by either a 566 or a 766MHz Celeron processor, which have 32Kbyte of Level 1 cache and a 128Kbyte Level 2 cache.
The board uses the long life cycle 82440BX chipset which is capable of supporting the 100MHz front-side bus.
Up to 320Mbyte of SDRAM can be installed on the board.
Additional features of the VP PMC/Cxx include 10/100Mbps Ethernet interface via a front panel RJ45 connector, EIDE interface, 16Mbyte of application Flash EPROM, and an optional 512Kbyte of battery-backed SRAM.
Bus error interrupt hardware is also provided.
The board also provides a USB port, a comm port, a floppy port and mouse/keyboard interfaces.
"Today, many users rely on PMC modules to provide a variety of interfaces for their systems.
This PMC host board has been designed to provide a solution for space-constrained embedded applications", commented Jane Annear, Director of Sales at Concurrent Technologies.
"And the use of low-power Celeron processors, which use Intel's 0.18-micron Coppermine technology, together with careful consideration to board layout and heatsink design were major factors in being able to restrict the thermal envelope to a single slot".
To simplify integration and application migration, the board supports industry-standard operating systems including Windows NT, VxWorks, Solaris, Linux and QNX.
