Mezzanine card steps up to Gigabit Ethernet
Concurrent Technologies has released the latest addition to its range of networking PMC mezzanine cards - the CL PMC/GB1, a two-channel Gigabit Ethernet adapter with 1000BaseT capability.
Concurrent Technologies has announced the release of the latest addition to its range of networking PMC mezzanine cards - the CL PMC/GB1, a two-channel Gigabit Ethernet adapter with 1000BaseT capability.
The adaptor is targeted at applications that need high data throughput and low latency.
The PMC adapter provides high speed networking through the use of two Intel 82543 Gigabit Ethernet controllers.
These controllers, which have large FIFOs, allow the board to automatically negotiate transfer rates of 10, 100 or 1000Mbit/s in full- or half-duplex mode.
The adapter's physical connection to an Ethernet network is through industry standard RJ45 connectors that allow connection to low cost CAT 5 cabling.
"This Gigabit Ethernet adapter is an ideal solution for users who want to migrate from their existing 10 or 100Mbit/s Ethernet systems up to the very fast Gigabit Ethernet".
said Jane Annear, Director of Sales at Concurrent Technologies.
"The upgrade is very simple to implement because the same RJ45 interface and cabling is used, so it is very easy to obtain an order of magnitude improvement".
The CL PMC/GB1 is a single-size card and is compliant with the CMC (Common Mezzanine Card) specification.
The adaptor complies with the PCI specification, features 3.3 or 5V signalling and 32 or 64bit transfers, can operate at 33 or 66MHz and has bus master capability.
In addition, base address and interrupt selection is software configurable.
This board can be used with Concurrent Technologies' CompactPCI, VME, Multibus II, or with any other PMC compliant host board.
Operating systems supported include Windows NT, Windows 2000, VxWorks, Linux and Solaris.
