Single-slot VME board boasts 1GHz CPU
and 1Gbyte

Concurrent Technologies has added a 1GHz Pentium III CPU option for the VP CP1/Pxx single-slot 6U VME family.

Concurrent Technologies has added a 1GHz Pentium III CPU option for the VP CP1/Pxx single-slot 6U VME family This high performance CPU board now features a choice of a 1GHz, 850MHz or 700MHz Pentium III CPU with up to 1Gbyte onboard DRAM, all within a single slot format

These features make the VP CP1/Pxx the ideal choice for the main CPU board within a VME system.

The board has 32Kbyte of Level 1 cache and a 256Kbyte Level 2 cache.

It uses the long-life-cycle 82440BX chipset which supports the 100MHz front-side bus.

A customised heatsink is fitted to the CPU to ensure that no fan is used on the board, and the board design is contained within a single slot.

Up to 1Gbyte of DRAM can be installed on the board, using a combination of SO-DIMMs and modules, while still maintaining a single-slot solution.

This memory is accessible from the Pentium III, PCIbus and the VMEbus.

Additional features of the VP CP1/Pxx include support for 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet interface via a front panel RJ45 connector, EIDE interface, AGP graphics with flat panel display support, two RS232 serial interfaces, PC features including keyboard, mouse, real-time clock, floppy disk interface, parallel interface, two USB interfaces, and a watchdog timer.

Hardware byte swapping and bus error detection are also included on the board.

The board's features can be further extended by the onboard PMC site and the addition of an optional PMC carrier board (AD CR2/PMC).

By providing the user with up to three PMC sites within two slots, the board can be customised, using standard or specialised PMC modules, to match the application's requirements.

In addition, the board can support CompactFlash and DiskonChip.

"Its wide range of features, and the support for PMC will make it suitable for a variety of applications and markets".

To simplify integration and application migration, the VP CP1/Pxx supports industry standard operating systems including Windows 2000, Windows NT, VxWorks, LynxOS, Solaris, Linux and MS-DOS.
