Concurrent Technologies has released its first Motorola processor based single-slot 6U VME host I/O board, the VP 683/10x The VP 683/10x is a high-performance VME-based embedded single board computer specifically designed to address the needs of the COTS military and commercial OEM in the embedded real-time marketplace including applications in process control, medical systems and telemetry systems

The VP683/10x meets system flexibility expectations as it provides two PMC sites and, depending on the required performance, two Motorola processor options.

The higher performance 50MHz MC68060 processor provides superscalar architecture, 256 entry branch prediction cache, 8Kbyte data cache and 8Kbyte instruction cache whereas the 33MHz MC68040 processor provides 4Kbyte data cache and 4Kbyte instruction cache.

Conformal coating and extended temperature screened versions of the board are available as special options for use in rugged applications.

Two 32bit PMC sites are available for user functions or for the addition of standard PMC modules.

For both PMC sites the I/O connector signals are routed through the front panel of the board and for PMC Site 1 they are also routed to the P2 connector.

Additional features of the board include16Mbyte of Flash EPROM (with onboard switch for dual boot sector), 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet interface via a front panel RJ45 connector, two RS232/422 ports, one parallel port, six timers and a real-time clock.

"Concurrent Technologies is very pleased to supply the VME market with an alternative Motorola processor based board which meets the customer's single slot, dual PMC site requirements", commented Jane Annear, Concurrent Technologies' Commercial Director".

The VP 683/10x has a thoroughbred background and is the first of our Motorola processor offering which complements our current successful Intel processor track record".

To simplify integration and application migration a board support package is provided for the popular operating system VxWorks.
