6U CompactPCI Board features Flip-Chip Pentium III
Concurrent Technologies has announced the release of the PP EMB/P34 Peripheral Slot Controller CPU board, a single slot 6U CompactPCI Board featuring the Flip-Chip Pentium III processor.
Hot-Swap PMC Carrier allows continuous operation
The PP PMC/002 is designed to provide a cost effective and flexible approach to implementing standard and custom I/O requirements using industry standard PMC modules in CompactPCI systems.
With the release of the extended temperature version, the range of potential uses for the board has been increased to include applications requiring an operating environment of -25 to +70C, typically within the defence and transportation markets.
For the extended temperature version of the board, the processing power is provided by either an 850MHz or 700MHz Pentium III processor equipped with 32Kbytes of Level 1 cache and 256Kbyte Level 2 cache.
The board uses the long life cycle 82440BX chipset which supports the 100MHz front side bus.
A customised heatsink is fitted to the CPU to ensure that no fan is used on the board, and the board design is contained within a single slot.
The VP PSE/P3x, a PC compatible board, provides additional features including high performance Ultra-Wide SCSI and EIDE, 10 or 100Mbit/s Ethernet using a RJ45 connector, high resolution graphics including support for flat panel displays, up to 256Mbyts of lower cost SDRAM and support for DiskOnChip.
On board fast hardware byte-swapping is also supported.
In addition, the board offers PC-compatible features such as keyboard, mouse, one RS232 serial interface, two USB interfaces, floppy disk interface and printer port.
These features can be further extended by the use of the onboard PMC site, and a further two PMC modules can be added using the optional PMC carrier board (extended temperature version) which connects directly to the VP PSE/P3x via the onboard PMC expansion interface.
To ensure ease of integration, the VP PSE/P3x supports a wide range of operating systems including Windows XP Embedded, Windows 2000, Windows NT, VxWorks, LynxOS, Solaris, Linux, QNX and MS-DOS.
