Pentium III VME SBCs go to extremes
Concurrent Technologies is extending the operating temperature of its popular high performance Pentium III VME SBC family.
Concurrent Technologies is extending the operating temperature of its popular high performance Pentium III VME SBC family.
There are three single-slot family versions, all using the Low Voltage Intel Pentium III Processor 512K.
The two extended temperature versions consists of the 800MHz VP 101/010-K operating over -40 to +85C (humidity sealed) and the 800MHz VP 101/010-E operating over -25 to +70C.
The VP 101/01x, the commercial version, uses either the 933 or 800MHz processor operating over 0 to +55C.
The family supports a single PMC site (32/64bit up to 66MHz) with an expansion connector providing two further PMC sites on an optional carrier.
UDMA100 EIDE and Ultra Wide SCSI interfaces are provided with options for an onboard EIDE 1.8in disk drive or CompactFlash/IBM Microdrive.
At the core of the VP 101 family is the Low Voltage Intel Pentium III "Tualatin" (0.13-micron) processor in a "flip chip" package.
The processor supports 512Kbyte of high-speed secondary cache and, in conjunction with the ServerWorks ServerSet III LE chipset, operates a 133MHz front side bus.
As with all Concurrent Technologies' designs, heatsinks are used in preference to fans for cooling the CPU.
The board provides, soldered onboard, 512Mbyte or 1Gbyte of 133MHz ECC SDRAM that can easily be upgraded to 1.5Gbytes via the onboard memory socket.
Other features are a dual 10BaseT/100BaseTX Ethernet interface, keyboard/mouse interface, PC real-time clock, two RS232 channels, two USB ports, parallel printer port, watchdog timer, long duration timer and a Silicon Motion graphics interface with digital flat panel support.
A P2 breakout module is provided to facilitate integration in specific applications requiring rear I/O connection.
For ease of integration, the VP 101 family supports many of today's leading operating systems, including VxWorks, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, RTX, Linux, QNX and MS-DOS.
