The VP 305/01x is a high-performance, Pentium M based, VME single board computer with extensive front/rear I/O functionality.

The VP 305/01x is a high-performance, Pentium M based, VME single board computer with extensive front/rear I/O functionality The single slot board, supports either a 1.6 or 1.1GHz Intel Pentium M processor and up to 1.5Gbyte 200MHz DDR ECC SDRAM

To give better I/O performance, and for lower power consumption, Concurrent Technologies chose the ServerWorks GC-LE chipset.

With one to three PMC sites, all with rear I/O, the VP 305/01x rear I/O functions include dual Gigabit Ethernet, VITA 31.1 (Gigabit Ethernet on VME64 backplanes), analogue/digital graphics, keyboard, mouse, RS232/422/485, USB, floppy and EIDE interfaces.

The front panel supports the PMC, analogue graphics, keyboard and mouse interfaces and includes additional front panel interfaces (separate from the rear I/O) for USB, RS232/422/485 and Fast Ethernet.

At the core of the design is the low power Intel Pentium M processor, with speed options of 1.6 or 1.1GHz, supporting a 1Mbyte high-speed secondary (L2) on-die cache.

Designed for scalability, the VP 305/01x will support faster versions of the processors as they become available.

For increased reliability, heatsinks are used in preference to fans for cooling the processor.

The VP 305/01x provides, soldered on the board, 512Mbyte of 200MHz DDR ECC SDRAM that can easily be upgraded up to 1.5Gbyte via the onboard memory socket.

To cater for embedded applications there is 32Mbyte of application Flash memory.

For a wider range of applications there is an EIDE P2 interface (up to Ultra-DMA100), plus installed EIDE options for an onboard EIDE 2.5in disk drive, CompactFlash or IBM/Hitachi Microdrive modules, all within a single slot.

Other onboard features available are GPIO bits, speaker interface, PC real-time clock, watchdog timer and long duration timer.

LAN boot firmware is included as well.

A transition module is supplied for applications requiring rear I/O connections.

For ease of integration, the VP 305/01x supports many of today's leading operating systems, including VxWorks, Linux, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, RTX, QNX and MS-DOS.
