Concurrent Technologies has increased its range of single-slot high-performance low-power VME-based single board computers using the Intel Pentium M processor.

Concurrent Technologies has increased its range of single-slot high-performance low-power VME-based single board computers using the Intel Pentium M processor.

The VP 325/02x supports the 1.6GHz processor (1Mbyte L2 cache) and the VP 327/02x supports either the 1.8 or 1.4GHz processor (2Mbyte L2 cache).

Using the Intel 855GME GMCH, the processor can access up to 2Gbyte of 333MHz DDR ECC SDRAM (minimum 512Mbyte soldered).

Using the Intel 6300ESB ICH feature set, this SBC's I/O capability includes four RS232 ports, four USB 2.0 interfaces, graphics, stereo audio, dual Gigabit Ethernet, dual EIDE ATA100 and dual Serial ATA150 interfaces, plus a 66MHz PMC site.

For harsher applications, using the 1.4GHz low voltage processor, operation over -40 to +85C or over -25 to +70C is supported.

Applications include defence, security, industrial control, telecomms, telemetry, scientific and aerospace markets.

"As a single slot VME SBC, the VP 32x/02x family supports a variety of industry standard serial interfaces and high performance Serial ATA and EIDE hard disk interfaces, therefore the board is ideally suited to applications such as command and control or data processing", said Jane Annear, Commercial Director for Concurrent Technologies.

"Our choice of a low power chipset, along with onboard soldered memory, allows us to offer extended temperature variants of the board for the defence and industrial markets".

Concurrent Technologies recognises a need for high-speed data exchange, processing and storage in a distributed or localised applications.

The VP 32x/02x supports four high-speed USB 2.0 ports and four RS232 ports along with the onboard Intel 82546GB controller to sustain datarates of up to 4Gbit/s via the two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

To cater for a range of embedded applications, by using the EIDE ATA100 interface, there are options to install an onboard EIDE 2.5in disk drive or CompactFlash/Hitachi GST Microdrive carrier, all within a single slot.

A 2048 x 1536 graphics interface, including rear panel DVI-D and front panel VGA support, is implemented using the Intel 855GME GMCH.

Other features provided are printer, keyboard and mouse interfaces, floppy disk interface, PC real-time clock, watchdog timer and legacy speaker interface.

Line level stereo audio I/O pairs are supported via the P2 connector.

For applications requiring rear I/O connections, a transition module is provided with the board.

The VP 325/02x and VP 327/02x support many of today's leading operating systems, including VxWorks, Linux, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, RTX, Solaris, LynxOS, QNX and MS-DOS.

LAN boot firmware is included with the BIOS.

VP 325/02x list prices start from approximately $4000 per board.
