The VX 405/04x family of high-performance RoHS-compliant VME64x single board computers feature the latest low-power dual-core processors from the Intel embedded roadmap.

Concurrent Technologies has a new range of high-performance RoHS-compliant VME64x single board computers - the VX 405/04x family The boards feature the latest low power, dual core processors from the Intel embedded roadmap, (the 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo L2400 processor and the higher performance 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo T2500 processor) to ensure high-performance processing

The VXS switched serial standard - VITA 41.3 - is optionally supported to provide fast data transfer between other compatible boards in the system.

This combination of high performance data processing and a wealth of I/O ensure that the boards are ideal for intensive computing applications within the defense, security, telemetry, industrial control, scientific, and aerospace markets.

Extended temperature variants are also available.

The VX 405/04x board supports the 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo T2500 (in a socket) or the 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo L2400 processor (soldered); both processors support 2Mbyte L2 cache (shared between the cores).

By using appropriate operating systems and applications software, a computing performance increase of up to twice an Intel Pentium M is achievable, and yet the Intel thermal design power (TDP) for the 2.0GHz dual core processor is 31W, compared with 27W TDP for the 2.0GHz Pentium M processor.

The Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset and Intel ICH7-M are used to complement the processor to achieve a low power, yet high-performance core design.

Up to 4Gbyte of soldered 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM can be installed on the boards.

To enable easy fast transfer of data between the VX 405/04x board and other components in the system there are two networking options available: dual 10/100/1000Mbit/s Ethernet interfaces (via P2) or a VITA 41.3 interface (via P0) giving dual 1000Mbit/s baseband IEEE802.3 serial links onto a VXS backplane fabric.

A wide range of I/O is available: the front panel supports a 64bit 66MHz PMC (with XMC) and a third 10/100/1000Mbit/s Ethernet interface, while both the front and rear panels support graphics, keyboard and mouse interfaces plus up to five USB 2.0 and two RS232/422 interfaces.

The remaining rear panel interfaces provided are EIDE, SATA150, stereo audio line in/out and 3.5in floppy disk.

Other features included are a watchdog timer, long duration timer, LAN boot firmware and options for an onboard 2.5in EIDE hard disk drive or dual CompactFlash EIDE storage.

Alternatively, there is provision to provide two 64bit 66MHz PMC sites, with front and rear I/O, by using an optional secondary PMC carrier board.

For ease of integration, the VX 405/04x family of boards support many of today's leading operating systems, including Linux, Windows 2000, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, VxWorks and QNX.
