Concurrent Technologies' IO PMC/722 supports a variety of digital flat panel (DFP) or analogue CRT devices in single or dual-display configurations

Concurrent Technologies has released a cost-effective dual-display video/graphics PMC based adapter The IO PMC/722 is a high-quality, low-power embedded PMC graphics adapter supporting a variety of digital flat panel (DFP) or analogue CRT devices in single or dual-display configurations; where the DFP and CRT can be driven simultaneously with the same image or different image sources

The graphic controller offers a complete 3D rendering suite, hardware support for MPEG/DVD playback, a 2D drawing engine that supports bit block transfers, transparent block transfers, colour expansion and line draw.

The IO PMC/722 is designed to add graphics functionality into a single-width PMC slot on the host board, where functionality, power, space and cost are key elements.

Commercial and extended temperature versions are now available and ruggedised, conduction-cooled or air-cooled, versions will be available shortly.

Applications for this family of boards are expected within the defence, industrial control, transportation and various embedded markets.

Depending on the operating system, the IO PMC/722 supports a wide range of single or dual-display resolutions and refresh rates for standard and wide-screen formats.

The adapter supports a range of DFP resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 pixels, 16bit colour at 60Hz (24bit colour for lesser resolutions) and a range of CRT resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 pixels, 24bit colour at up to 85Hz.

The DFP and CRT can be driven simultaneously with the same image or different image sources.

The DFP and CRT signal outputs are sourced via a DVI-I connector on the front panel (on commercial variants) as well as via the PMC's P4 connector to the rear.

The IO PMC/722 PMC adapter uses the Silicon Motion SM722 3D/2D dual-display controller.

The SM722, with 8Mbyte of high-performance on-chip SGRAM, provides good 2D/3D video graphics performance for low power consumption (less than 2W).

The IO PMC/722 adapter's PCI interface requires a 32bit 33MHz bus on the host board's PMC site, and it is 3.3V and 5V tolerant.

The IO PMC/722 is designed in compliance to the PMC and CMC standards and can be installed onto PMC sites on appropriate intelligent host boards such as Concurrent Technologies' latest Intel dual-core processor based VME and CompactPCI boards.

They can also be installed onto Concurrent Technologies' range of nonintelligent PMC host boards - such as the 6U VME dual PMC carrier (AD CR3/PMC) or the 3U CompactPCI PMC carrier (TP CR1/PMC).

Like the IO PMC/722, Concurrent Technologies' ranges of PMC host boards are available in commercial and extended temperature versions, and some will be available in ruggedised, conduction-cooled or air-cooled, versions.

Operating systems supported include Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows 2000, Linux and QNX.
