SBC offers conduction cooling

A Concurrent Technologies product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 22, 2007

The TP 402/351-RC is well suited to conduction-cooled applications within the transportation, industrial control, telemetry, defence, security and aerospace markets.

For harsh operating environments Concurrent Technologies has released a low power, conduction-cooled, 3U CompactPCI single board computer (SBC).

The TP 402/351-RC uses the latest mobile dual-core processor and server chipset from the Intel embedded roadmap, combining the performance of the 1.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with the Intel 3100 server chipset, interfacing up to 4Gbyte of soldered DDR2 ECC SDRAM.

This 3U SBC supports an XMC module in a single slot and can operate in a system slot, peripheral slot or as a blade.

The TP 402/351-RC is well suited to conduction-cooled applications within the transportation, industrial control, telemetry, defence, security and aerospace markets.

A ruggedised air-cooled version and a range of commercial extended temperature versions are also available.

The TP 402/351-RC conduction cooled board, including conformal coating and operates at altitudes from -305 to + 15,240m over -40C to +85C (no airflow).

The ruggedised design can tolerate a shock of 40g (11ms, half-sine), sine vibration 5g (5Hz-2kHz) and random vibrationof 0.1g2/Hz (10Hz-1kHz) with 6dB/octave from 1 to 2KHz.

The TP 402/351-RC board supports the 1.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor L7400 (soldered).

This dual-core processor provides 4Mbyte L2 cache (shared between the cores), a 667MHz front side bus and supports 64bit operating systems.

The Intel 3100 chipset combines server-class memory and I/O controller functions into a single component and interfaces up to 4Gbyte of soldered DDR2-400 ECC memory with a peak memory bandwidth of 3.2Gbyte/s.

The TP 402/351-RC version supports, in a single 3U 4HP slot, an XMC site (via a x4 PCI Express port).

All versions can operate as:a system controller (for up to seven peripheral slots with hot-swap control), as a peripheral board, or as a blade.

Mass storage space is provided by the onboard 512Mbyte flash disk and two Serial ATA150 interfaces via J2.

There is a user-mountable option, on all board versions, for a single or dual channel flash disk module accessed via the XMC connector, ideal for security sensitive applications.

Graphics can be provided by using Concurrent Technologies' conduction-cooled graphics PMC (IO PMC/722-RC) mounted on the conduction-cooled 3U CompactPCI PMC Carrier (TP CR1/PMC-RC).

Ruggedised air-cooled versions and a range of commercial extended temperature versions are also available.

For fast external control and high-speed data paths, the TP 402/351-RC provides two high-speed USB 2.0 ports, one RS232/422/485 and one RS232 port, plus the Intel 82571EB dual Gigabit Ethernet controller (with a x4 PCI Express port) that can sustain data-rates of up to 4Gbit/s via the two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

The 32bit CompactPCI control/data plane throughput can operate at 33/66MHz backplane PCI signalling speeds.

Other features provided are PC real-time clock, watchdog timer, long duration timer and legacy speaker interface.

The TP 402/351-RC supports Linux, Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, LynxOS, QNX and VxWorks.
