More power to critical cPCI processing
Single-slot 6U CompactPCI processor board uses the latest high performance mobile dual core processor from the Intel embedded roadmap.
Concurrent Technologies has released one of the first critical embedded products based on Intel's 45nm process technology and the latest DDR3 memory devices.
The PP 512/06x a single slot 6U CompactPCI processor board uses the latest high performance mobile dual core processor from the Intel embedded roadmap, the 2.53GHz Intel Core2 Duo processor T9400.
The board is ideal for CPU intensive processing applications whereby the processor's dual cores can access up to 8Gbyte of onboard DDR3 dual-channel SDRAM at up to 16Gbyte/s.
As a single slot solution, this combination of high performance data processing, and a range of I/O interfaces, plus two PMC/XMC sites ensures that the PP 512/06x is an ideal choice for processing intensive applications, particularly within the communications, security, telemetry, scientific and aerospace markets.
Jane Annear, Commercial Director for Concurrent Technologies commented: "As one of the first companies to announce a product based on the latest processor platform from Intel's embedded roadmap, we have re-emphasised our commitment to introduce new high performance products to the critical embedded market".
"This latest product will provide the additional performance our customers are asking for".
"The overall combination of Intel's new technology on the embedded roadmap means that the PP 512/06x gives an improved performance per watt over currently available 6U CompactPCI SBCs in a single slot solution".
"Concurrent Technologies continues to introduce the latest high performance products based on the Intel's embedded roadmap", said Joe Jensen, General Manager, Intel Embedded Computing Division.
"This latest single board computer combines the latest Intel processor technology with high performance memory technology, to provide an appealing solution for processing-intensive applications such as deep packet inspection".
The PP 512/06x is based on a platform consisting of the Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9400, the Intel GM45 Graphics Memory Controller Hub and the Intel I/O Controller Hub 9M.
The processor uses Intel's 45nm process technology, and offers a large L2 cache (6Mbyte), 1066MHz front side bus, improved power management, plus new features and enhancements to the Intel Core microarchitecture delivering increased instructions per clock.
The Mobile Intel GM45 Express chipset accesses up to 8Gbyte of DDR3-1066 dual-channel SDRAM via two SODIMM sockets.
For I/O, control and data processing flexibility the PP 512/06x supports two high performance PMC/XMC sites with front and rear I/O, PICMG 2.16 (Ethernet fabric), PICMG 2.9 (IPMI) and PICMG 2.1 (hot swap).
Each PMC site supports up to 133MHz PCI-X operation as well as a x4 PCI Express XMC interfaces, XMC site 2 can also support x8 PCI Express.
The CompactPCI control/data plane throughput can operate at 33/66MHz backplane PCI signalling speeds; the PP 512/06x can operate as a system controller board, a peripheral board or as a satellite board (blade).
A wide range of onboard I/O is available to the user: the board supports three 10/100/1000Mps Ethernet interfaces (one front and two rear) and the front panel also supports a USB 2.0, RS232, analogue graphics (2048 x 1536), keyboard and mouse interfaces.
The rear panel supports three USB 2.0s, RS232 and up to four SATA300 interfaces.
Other features included are a watchdog timer, long duration timer, LAN boot firmware and options for an onboard 2.5in SATA300 hard disk drive and/or CompactFlash storage.
For applications requiring rear I/O connections, a transition module is available - and can be optionally fitted with a USB Flash disk.
For ease of integration, the PP 512/06x family of boards support many of today's leading operating systems, including Linux, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, Solaris, VxWorks and QNX.
