Engineers and technicians must be trained
Leading UK engineering and technology firms, with a combined multi-million pound spend on training and development, will assemble at the IEE 'Investing in Technical Teams' forum on 4 November 2004.
Workshop gives complete picture on CE.NET 5.0
A UK-based workshop will give embedded software development engineers hands-on experience in running the new 5.0 release of Windows CE.NET on next generation processors.
PQ problems lead to unplanned downtime, wasted resources and higher energy costs, yet they can be easily detected in advance by measurement and monitoring, and cured by the application of the most appropriate mitigation techniques.
Best of all, the effects can be avoided altogether by good design practices and by choosing the right equipment.
Facilities managers, consultants and design engineers, contractors, electrical engineers and maintenance engineers will gain an understanding of the theory behind power problems such as blackouts, flicker and nuisance tripping, and receive practical guidance on identification, measurement and solutions in LV installations.
"Recognising and avoiding PQ related losses" is a new, daytime event which takes an in-depth look at the whole range of PQ issues with emphasis on the two most common and most damaging areas - voltage disturbances and harmonics.
This event qualifies for 5.5 hours CPD and provides an opportunity for students to view equipment at the exhibition and discuss their PQ problems with the speakers at the PQ clinic.
"Power quality in LV installations" is an evening event which has been updated for 2005 and gives an introduction to PQ issues with a strong focus on harmonics.
Students will have the opportunity for Q and As throughout the evening.
The presenters are from the Power Quality Partnership, formed by CDA (an IEE Endorsed Provider of Training Seminars and Learning Resources) and ten leading power quality solutions providers: Fluke (UK) , IMH Technologies , LEM Instruments, MGE UPS Systems, Outram Research, PFC Engineering, Power and Energy Monitors, Premium Power, Riello Galatrek and Suparule Systems .
The information presented is based on the contents of the "Power quality application guide", copies of which will be provided to all students of the day seminar free of charge.
A buffet will be provided, and preregistration is essential.
