Research sheds new light on LEPs
The nature of one of the fundamental processes for light generation in light emitting polymer (LEP), materials has now been experimentally demonstrated by scientists from Cambridge and Oman.
Longer operating life for LEP displays
Cambridge Display Technology is claiming a dramatic improvement in the life performance of display devices based on light emitting polymer technology.
He will be responsible for the management of CDT's relationship with the technical arms of CDT's licensees and the strategic planning of joint developments as part of CDT's goal of driving the commercialisation of LEP and allied technologies.
Burroughes will continue to report directly to David Fyfe, CEO of CDT, and will also be responsible for mapping IP published by CDT's licensees and others in CDT's technology arena; a key role in driving the continued advancement of LEP technology.
David Fyfe, CDT's CEO said, "As one of the original LEP researchers, Jeremy has already proven his ability to successfully lead fundamental R and D in LEP and related technologies.
In his new role, Jeremy's contribution will be invaluable to ensure CDT takes the best route for the commercial and technological advancement of LEP technology and that the technology road map continues to fully complement CDT's global business plan and fulfil our strong commitment to our licensees".
Burroughes joined CDT in 1997 with over 10 years research experience in conjugated polymer science and semi-conductor technologies to manage CDT's new research group.
After holding the position of technical director for two years he was promoted to Product Business Unit Director in 2000.
Previously, Burroughes spent six years with Toshiba in the UK and Japan where he worked on quantum electronic and optoelectronic devices fabricated using GaAs or InP regrowth technology.
