Power supply specialist Celab reports that investment in previous years has resulted in another record year in 2002, with turnover increasing by 18% over 2001.

As several projects move to volume manufacturing, Celab is gaining increased benefit from initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, cell-based manufacturing and staff training, which have boosted productivity by 12% in the last 2 years.
To further develop their established NVQ and manufacturing training programmes, Celab has also recently recruited a full-time training supervisor to co-ordinate all in-house training activity, including the graduate programme run in conjunction with the University of Portsmouth.
Celab has achieved this record performance with virtually the same staffing levels as in the year 2000, thanks to extensive involvement of manufacturing staff in the streamlining of production processes, and investment in additional automated equipment such as custom-design ATE and an additional vibration chamber for both prototype and production testing.
