West Coast lab supports UMTS expansion

A Cetecom product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Feb 22, 2006

Cetecom has opened a new UMTS laboratory in San Diego, California.

To meet the increasing demand of the mobile communications industry for comprehensive consulting and testing services for UMTS technologies, Cetecom has expanded its capabilities by opening a new UMTS laboratory in San Diego, California.

The new laboratory opened in December 2005 and is focused exclusively on UMTS, WCDMA and HSDPA technologies.

The location was partly chosen for its proximity to the numerous wireless technology companies in the region including many of the key drivers in UMTS development.

State-of-the-art technical equipment has been installed to provide the mobile communications industry with a range of comprehensive testing services for UMTS user equipment.

Complementing the test capabilities of Cetecom's existing laboratory in Milpitas, UMTS user equipment manufacturers have the opportunity to have their products tested to national, international and industry standards and certified for the world market.

The service portfolio of the new laboratory contains the whole range of UMTS tests required by industry certification regimes such as GCF and PTCRB including RF conformance, protocol tests, radio resource management tests (RRM), inter-RAT scenarios and testing of the USIM card interface.

The local management of the San Diego laboratory is in the hands of James Cunningham, who has been active in the mobile communications test and certification industry for over 15 years.
