Celoxica has appointed Sony executive John Bickley as senior vice president and general manager.

Based at Celoxica's European headquarters, Bickley is responsible for directing the company's sales, marketing and engineering activities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Bickley joined Celoxica from Sony Psygnosis, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), where he was vice president publishing and general manager.

Reporting directly to the president of SCEE, Bickley was part of the management team that helped turn the PlayStation into the world's most successful video games machine ever, with an installed base of 70 million worldwide and software sales of over 700 million units.

Bickley commented on his appointment, "Celoxica has incredible potential.

DK1 is an enabler, a technology of change.

It is a product that turns today's model for hardware design on its head by helping companies reach markets in months, weeks and days with good designs, at significantly less cost.

It also opens up new opportunities for exploiting reconfigurable hardware, enabling companies to better control the lifecycle of shipped products and explore new business models by delivering hardware upgrades and applications to products in the field".
