Celoxica's Japanese subsidiary has sold licenses of the DK1 design suite to four major Japanese electrical firms, including Omron and Sony, in the second half of 2001.

In addition Celoxica has signed five Japanese universities to the Celoxica University Programme, including Tokyo University, for teaching and research in electronics engineering using DK1 and Celoxica RC series development boards.

Celoxica Japan is preparing a localised university programme to start in Japan from early 2002.

"We've seen particularly strong interest in high-level design methodologies from the Japanese market", said Dennis Nye, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing, "Demand for C-based tools is being driven by a range of issues including system performance, development costs, design productivity and skills gaps.

Our customers recognise how effectively the DK1 design suite tackles these problems".
