ETRI-Korea adopts Celoxica DK1 design
suite
Korea's leading research and development organisation for the IT industry, has signed a perpetual license deal to use Celoxica's DK1 design suite.
The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea's leading research and development organisation for the IT industry, has signed a perpetual license deal to use Celoxica's DK1 design suite ETRI designers will initially use DK1 to validate algorithms for their modem chip designs

Celoxica has announced the DK1 design suite, software that enables a fundamentally new approach to the design of electronic hardware.
Celoxica offers a free go at FPGA design
Celoxica DK1 Eval is a free evaluation version of the Celoxica DK1 design suite that is restricted to compilations for simulation only, with no EDIF or VHDL output capability.
"We have been looking for high level hardware design tools for many of our ongoing projects and we found that DK1 offers unique capabilities to migrate C based algorithms to hardware rapidly", said Youn-Ok Park, of ETRI.
"Achieving a C-direct-to-FPGA design flow without an intermediate HDL step was the key factor in favour of our adopting DK1".
The order from ETRI was the first for DK1 to be secured by Celoxica's new Korean distributor Seodu Logic who worked with Celoxica Singapore to close the deal.
"The design flow methodology generally used for SoC designs, starts from RTL and generates gates for an ASIC or FPGA.
As designs in SoC projects become more complicated and their size bigger, a high-level language approach is required to handle this complexity.
Recognising this trend, Seodu Logic sought out the best solutions in the marketplace and hence came to distribute Celoxica's DK1 suite.
With direct implementation of hardware designs from C to an FPGA netlist for Xilinx and Altera devices I see great opportunities for DK1", says YS Shin, vice president, Seodu Logic.
"Many of today's manufacturers invest massive resources in designing custom silicon years before a product is released", says Suresh Potluri, business director, Celoxica Pte.
"Market conditions and consumer demand can easily change in that time and negatively impact the return on their investment.
The rapid flexible design onto reconfigurable platforms which DK1 offers, gives design teams new choices to maximise their creativity, productivity and profitability in these markets".
He continued, "With Seodu Logic we found a very active and professional organisation dedicated to selling and supporting Celoxica's products who have the experience and technical knowledge to support our customers.
We are very keen to expand in Korea and offer this state-of-the-art technology to the local industry, Seodu Logic is a perfect partner to work with".
